Russel and Christy

Russel and Christy were married at Phipps Conservatory and their reception was at the gorgeous Club at Nevillewood.

To know Russel and Christy is to love them. They are the sort of people who are so crazy about each other that it makes you feel all warm and fuzzy just to be around them. Throughout their entire wedding day, I was so touched by how much love and appreciation they have for their families as well. Every once in awhile, I’ll get emotional while shooting a wedding (hiding behind my camera, of course), but it was an all day thing for me this time! There’s something so sweet and endearing about Christy, so every time she’d tear up, I was right there with her. Her happy little sighs of contentment throughout the day told me that everything about her wedding was better than she could have possibly imagined.

Here’s a few of my favorites from their wedding day:

Ceremony: Phipps Conservatory

Reception: The Club at Nevillewood

Florist: Always In Bloom, Donati’s

Cake Artist: Prantl’s Bakery

Amir and EPauline

Amir and EPauline were married at the Calvary United Methodist Church and their reception was at the University Club in Oakland. Their Engagement Session was divided into two photo shoots because the first day we shot near Phipps was so cold we could only stand it for half the normal shooting time. Once it was nice out, we went out again and finished their session in Schenley Park. So by the time it was time to shoot their wedding photos, I knew that Amir was extremely talented at making EPauline laugh on cue. So anytime I needed a good laugh from her, I’d just say “Amir?”  Worked like a charm.

Amir and EPauline put so much thought into making their wedding day beautiful from start to finish. Along with the help of the wonderful Tiffany Ray of Great Expectations Event Management, their wedding was gorgeous!

Here’s a few of my favorites:

Jim and Melenie

Jim and Melenie were married at St. Stephen Church in Niles, Ohio and their reception was at Leos Ristorante in Warren. We started out at her dad’s beautiful home and continued on to the church, followed by photos at the McKinley Memorial across the road after the ceremony. It was extremely warm outside, but both Melenie and Jim and their entire wedding party were so cooperative and lots of fun!

Melenie did such an amazing job with the reception decor. She decided on black and white with tropical flowers, and the result was vibrantly beautiful.

Melenie moved to Columbus to be with Jim after the wedding, so the day was both a celebration of their commitment to each other as well as a huge going away party. They both have very close bonds with their family and friends, and it was a privilege to photograph all the many beautiful moments that happened throughout the day.

Here are a few of my favorites:

Such a beautiful bride!

Corey and Lauren

Before anything else, I have to say that Lauren stole my heart when – on the morning of her own wedding day – she was thoughtful enough to give me a gorgeous vase and matching coasters as a housewarming present! I would take and post photos, but they are already on display in my new apartment, and I am an hour away staying with my sister while the place is being finished. Lauren, you’re SUCH a sweetheart – thank you so much!

On to their wedding day! Lauren and Corey were married at St. Louise de Manilac Church and their reception was at the Circuit Center on the South Side. The skies cleared beautifully for their photo session at Mellon Park – such a miracle in the middle of an otherwise stormy day. The rain that had been falling up until we got there was misting off the trees and flowers in the sunlight, so their photos have such a gorgeously hazy dreamlike feel to them. Almost to the second, the rain started up again as they got back into the limo to head off to their reception. Ahh – I love days like that.

I just can’t say enough about what wonderful people Lauren and Corey are. It’s so easy to get lost in the energy and details of a wedding day, but I felt that they were both so very present, so aware of the significance of what was happening, and so appreciative and grateful for the love and support of their family and friends.

An aspiring photographer named Kelly came along to photograph this wedding with Josh and I. She was so easy to work with and we loved having her with us!

How beautiful are these two?!

Steve and Teri

Steve and Teri were married at the Chippewa United Methodist Church. That weekend was one of my last living in Beaver County, so it was nice to photograph one close to home for a change!  Brady’s Run is one of my favorite places to photograph, and on this day in particular the sunlight filtered perfectly through the trees during their photo session. It was one of the first days it really felt like summer was coming, so we took our time and enjoyed the beautiful weather. I love that Steve and Teri budgeted a lot of time for photos – even more than the hour I usually ask for. Both Steve and Teri, and their entire wedding party were so much fun to work with, so having that extra time was wonderful!

Their reception was at the Beaver Valley Golf Club – a first for me, amazingly enough. For the last four years, almost every weekend during the summer, I traveled to Pittsburgh to shoot at every venue imaginable, when there’s a beautiful one five minutes from my house that I’d never been to. On a side note – now that I’m Pittsburgh, I’m very happy that all of those amazing venues I’ve been shooting at are within minutes of where I live! So excited to shave off two hours of driving time every Saturday!

Here’s a few of my favorites from Steve and Teri’s wedding day:

Mike and Michelle

Mike and Michelle are two of the sweetest people I’ve ever met. From the moment I met Michelle, she was unbelievably kind and considerate. On a day where she had every right to be too busy, I was touched that she took the the time to make sure I knew she appreciated me. Mike was every bit as gracious, and it was lovely to watch the two of them together!

They were married at Saints John and Paul Catholic Church (the first wedding ceremony in their new building) and their reception was at the beautiful Renaissance Hotel. The weather was less than cooperative, but that didn’t stop us from getting some outdoor shots at the Mellon Institute. I love that their photos were important enough to them to brave a little wind and rain!

Here’s a few shots from their day:

Brandon and Lena

Brandon and Lena were married last Saturday at the Sacred Heart Parish in Shadyside. I met them while photographing Matt and Annie’s wedding in 2008, and liked them instantly! Lena has an adorably infectious laugh and such a sweet personality, and Brandon looks at her like he’s been completely charmed. Their wedding was absolutely beautiful, and we even had a break in the afternoon rain for their outside photographs!

One of the many things I loved about shooting their wedding was their unreserved trust in me as a photographer. Having that from my brides and grooms is such a gift!

I shot with a very talented photographer named Josh for this wedding. He’ll be shooting with me a lot this year, and I’m so excited to have him along!

Here are a few of my favorites:

Lena’s dress was stunning!

Seeing her Dad for the first time with her wedding dress on.

Love this shot of Brandon. I imagine there are few moments as profound as seeing your bride walk down the aisle.

Their wedding party was so much fun!
